Mark credits his parents with instilling in him the discipline and values that would propel him from the working-class Sydney suburb of Punchbowl to the boardroom of one of the world’s largest companies.

From these classically humble beginnings, Mark has acquired over 25 years experience in the finance and property sectors.

He founded Wizard Home Loans, one of Australia’s largest non-bank lenders, in 1996 and turned it into a financial powerhouse, taking on the big banks by offering consumers something different – smarter access to better value loans. Wizard was one of Australia’s largest non-bank lenders with its successful brand expanding into international markets.

In 2004, after eight years at the helm, Mark grew Wizard to a staff of 400 and over 250 branches. He then sold his stake for a share of $500 million and kept his job!

Since then, Mark has been committed to his belief that all Australians should have access to quality financial advice and has gained a well earned reputation for championing legislative reform for the benefit of consumers.

Mark has been Adjunct Professor (Banking & Finance and Business Law & Tax) at the University of NSW and also sits on the UNSW Advisory Board. He is a member of the expert panel appointed by the Federal Government to review Australia’s sporting system, a past trustee of Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum and former chair of the Federal Government’s expert group on consumer protection in electronic commerce. He is also an industry leader on consumer protection issues.

He has found time to be the author of ‘Wealth Wizard’ and ‘The Yellow Brick Road to Your Financial Security’. He is also a regular financial columnist in News Limited publications including the Sunday Telegraph.
